Frequently Asked Questions

Where are Bear mattresses made?

Bear mattresses are made to order in America using foreign and domestic components. They’re designed, assembled, and shipped directly from our factory in Phoenix, Arizona.

Does Bear Mattress use safe, non-toxic materials? What certifications do Bear mattresses have?

The Elite Hybrid, Elite Ultra Hybrid, Pro Foam, Pro Hybrid, Bear Original, Original Hybrid, Bear Natural, and Bear Cub mattresses are GREENGUARD Gold Certified and use CertiPUR-US® certified foams for low emissions and safety. Bear mattresses are also 100% fiberglass free.

What’s the difference between memory foam and hybrid mattresses?

The difference between a memory foam or “all-foam” mattress and a hybrid mattress is the internal support system:

  • All-foam mattresses exclusively use foam for comfort and support. They typically feature higher-density foam layers at the bottom for foundational stability.
  • Hybrid mattresses combine foam layers on top with a coil support core underneath for added structure and durability. This design offers a balanced blend of contouring, cushioning, and heavy-duty support.
What mattress firmness is right for my sleep position?

The vast majority of Bear customers prefer a medium to medium-firm mattress, about 5 to 7.5 out of 10 on the mattress firmness scale. Within this range (which we call the Sweet Spot):

  • Side sleepers generally prefer a softer feel
  • Stomach sleepers need the firmest support
  • Back sleepers fall in the middle

Bear in mind that mattress firmness is subjective and relative to your weight. Taking the Bear Sleep Quiz can help you identify the best fit for you.
